The liquid bulk cargo amounts to the highest volume of goods in maritime freight. This commodity group includes crude oil (petroleum) and petroleum products, liquid chemicals and gas, vegetable oils etc. Generally the liquid bulk cargo is transported with tanker vessels, though there is a rising trend to carry liquid bulk in tank-containers. The oil terminal operators currently provide storage service for petroleum and petroleum products, consolidation of large consignments and blending services. The oil terminals are also in possession of a developed rail infrastructure that is connected to the backbones of the rail network.
